## Yaris Cross R7F701441 BGA semi virtual cluster read / write data and odometer reset just by dash plugs F1+F8 supported by FORZA 614

Hey everyone!
Another Toyota just joined the FORZA 614 menu. This time it’s the **Toyota Yaris semi-digital instrument cluster**, the hybrid layout that sits between classic analog dials and a full TFT dash. A large LCD fills the centre and carries the speedometer graphics, trip data and warning pop-ups. On either side are printed gauge fields for coolant temperature and fuel, plus rows of telltales lit from behind by LEDs.

### What’s inside the Toyota Yaris Cross semi-digital cluster

The board is simple once you open it. All the logic runs on a single Renesas RH850 in a BGA package. Odometer and configuration data are stored in the microcontroller’s internal data flash. The rest of the PCB is CAN interfacing, power supply and LED drive for the side fields. The date codes on our unit point to late-2023 production. Part number of our cluster is **83800-5d761**.

- **Main microcontroller**: Renesas **R7F701441** (RH850, BGA, marked EABG-C, made in Japan, date code 2350). It handles gauge logic, display control and CAN communication, and its internal data flash stores mileage and configuration.
- **CAN transceivers**: 2× NXP **TJA1044** (marked JA1044V), placed right next to the MCU on the vehicle CAN lines.
- **Chime speaker**: Foster **SAL-40C-8**, a small round speaker in the white rear housing, connected to the board with a short red-black lead. This is where the warning tones and indicator ticks come from, so make sure it’s plugged back in when you reassemble.

### TM070RDKP22-00-BLU1-03 LCD Centre Display

The centre screen is a TFT module labelled **TM070RDKP22-00-BLU1-03**, with a second label reading TM070RDKP22-01\. It is mounted in an aluminium frame on standoffs behind the light guide and connects to the main board with a wide flex cable plus a smaller flex for the backlight. Our module has a December 2023 production date on the label (231206), so it is the same age as the board.
We haven’t seen these screens fail on the Yaris Cross so far. If you are sourcing a replacement, search by the full part number, because Toyota semi-digital clusters for different models can use similar-looking panels.

### Faults and what actually brings these units to the bench

So far, this cluster rarely fails. The platform is recent, and in our experience the semi-digital Yaris Cross is much less fault-prone than the full-digital Toyota clusters. Most of the work on these units is therefore:

- **Cluster swaps and adaptations** – a used or replacement unit fitted to a car needs the correct mileage before it goes back in.
- **Unit conversion** – a cluster set to MPH and °F, like our bench unit, can be switched to km/h and °C (or the other way round) to match the market the car is registered in. This comes up often with imported cars and donor clusters bought from another region.
- **Mileage correction after replacement** \- the new unit has to match the car’s real odometer reading.
- **Bench verification** \- checking a used unit before installing it, which is easy because it powers up fully on the bench (see below).

On the bench you will always see SRS, ABS, brake and check-engine telltales lit. That is normal for a cluster with no other modules on the network.

### Full cluster wake-up without a CAN-bus generator

This is one of the most convenient Yarises to bench test. You don’t need any CAN-bus signal to light it up. Plug in the FORZA 614 F1 + F8 cables and the cluster wakes fully: the LCD with all graphics, the gauge fields and the telltales. You don’t need a simulator, a donor car or a separate CAN-bus generator.

### FORZA 614 software programming options for the Toyota Yaris Cross semi-digital dashboard

The connection uses two plugs, both on the cluster side:

- **F1** is the main adapter that connects FORZA 614 to the model-specific cable, here the **F8**.
- The F8 ends in two original-style connectors. The **black-and-white plug goes into the black cluster connector**, and the **all-white plug goes into the white cluster connector**. You can’t mix them up if you match the colours.

With that connected, FORZA 614 gives you:

- **Data flash read and write** from the R7F701441\. You can make a full backup of the original contents before you change anything, and restore it later.
- **Mileage read and write**, which is useful for cluster replacement and adaptation jobs where the odometer has to match the car.

> ℹ️ **Connection note:** The pins in the Yaris cluster connectors are very thin, and a probe, a paperclip or a poorly fitting generic plug can bend or spread them easily. The F8 cable uses original-type connectors that fit these sockets exactly, so you can work on the unit without risking the connectors. Do the job through the plugs and don’t probe the pins by hand.

### Toyota Yaris semi-digital dashboard pinout and connectors

The Toyota Yaris semi-digital dashboard has two connectors on the back of the board: a **white** connector and a **black** connector. The F8 harness covers both, so for bench work and programming you don’t need to wire anything by hand. The pinout for this Yaris dash is shown in the FORZA 614 app.

### A low-risk Yaris job for your workshop

These clusters are new, reliable and easy to connect to, which makes them good jobs for a workshop. Swaps and mileage adaptations are common work and need no soldering, no chip removal and no BGA rework. That keeps the time per unit short, keeps the risk low, and means you can easily accept clusters sent in by post. The work comes down to plugging in two connectors, backing up the data flash, correcting the mileage and testing the unit.

### One subscription, zero token fees

FORZA 614 runs on a single flat-rate subscription. There are no individual licences, no per-job tokens and no paid model packs. Every new cluster we add, including this Yaris, is included in your subscription, and the monthly fee pays for development of the next ones.

## **FAQ**

#### ****Do I need a CAN-bus generator to power up the Toyota Yaris Cross semi-digital cluster?**

No. The FORZA 614 F1 + F8 cables are enough to wake the cluster fully on the bench, including the LCD and all telltales.

#### ****Where is the mileage stored in the Toyota Yaris semi-digital cluster?**

Mileage is stored in the internal data flash of the Renesas RH850 R7F701441 microcontroller. The board has no separate external EEPROM.

#### ****Can I back up and restore the R7F701441 data flash?**

Yes. FORZA 614 reads and writes the R7F701441 data flash through the cluster connectors, so you can save the original data before working on the unit.

#### ****Which cables do I need?**

F1 together with F8\. Connect the black-and-white plug to the black cluster connector and the all-white plug to the white cluster connector.

#### ****Are there extra fees for the Yaris Cross?**

No. It is included in the standard FORZA 614 subscription.
