## GranTurismo MC Stradale Instrument Cluster from 2012 now available. FORZA 614 is the tool for easy power up and odo programming.

Hello everyone!
Today we have a proper piece of Italian theatre on the workbench: the **Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale instrument cluster** from a 2012 car, built by Magneti Marelli. It looks the way an MC Stradale dash should. A carbon-fibre shroud frames two deep blue dials with the trident logo, small coolant and fuel gauges sit at the outer edges, and a compact colour TFT sits between them.
The car is from an older model generation, but the board is busier than the dial face suggests: one **95080 EEPROM** and two large Fujitsu chips.

Below we cover what’s on the PCB, which faults keep bringing these clusters into workshops, and how FORZA 614 handles Maserati GranTurismo dashboard programming in the car and on the bench.

### Inside the GranTurismo cluster

From the front, this is a simple analogue cluster: four needles, a set of warning lamps and one small screen. On the back of the PCB you’ll find a big QFP and a BGA, both from Fujitsu, which looks like a lot of processing for a few needles. In fact only one of them runs the cluster. The second one exists only to draw graphics on the centre TFT, and it has its own SDRAM. Chip date codes on our unit are from 2010–2011, which fits a 2012 car.

- **Main microcontroller**: MB91F467DA Fujitsu FR60 32-bit RISC MCU (MB91460D series) with on-chip CAN. It handles gauge drive, warning lamps, CAN-bus communication and odometer logic.
- **Graphics display controller**: MB86276 Fujitsu 2D GDC from the “Lime” family. It renders everything on the centre TFT.
- **EEPROM**: ST 95080 (M95080) 8 Kbit SPI serial EEPROM holding mileage and configuration data, including the distance unit setting.
- **Graphics memory**: Samsung K4S561632 SDRAM - the frame buffer for the MB86276.
- **Voltage regulator**: Infineon TLE4275 - 5 V low drop regulator for the logic supply.
- **Power switching**: NTP2955 - P-channel MOSFET in DPAK.
- **Clock**: 4.0000 MHz crystal next to the MB91F467DA.
- **Stepper motors**: NMB-MAT **PM20T-036** \- these drive the tachometer, speedometer, coolant temperature and fuel needles.

### Hitachi TX09D14VM3CAA LCD TFT Display in Maserati

The colour screen in the middle of the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale cluster is a **Hitachi TX09D14VM3CAA**. It belongs to Hitachi’s TX09 family of 3.5-inch-class TFT panels, mounted in portrait orientation between the two main dials. On our unit, the label on the back of the module also carries the number **554001622600**, which is worth noting if you’re matching a replacement panel against the original.

The panel isn’t soldered to the main board. It sits in its own white plastic frame on the front of the PCB, held by four screws, and connects to the board through a flat ribbon cable plugged into a connector just below it. You can remove the module without hot air or desoldering anything on the main board.

### MB86276 – Centre TFT Graphics Controller

The small centre screen shows speed, odometer, trip data, gear position and parking sensor graphics. Most clusters of this era drive a segment or dot-matrix display directly from the MCU. Magneti Marelli instead put a full graphics pipeline behind this screen: the MB86276 renders the image into the Samsung SDRAM frame buffer.

### Common Maserati GranTurismo cluster faults

These are the faults we see again and again on these units:

- **Intermittent operation caused by cold solder joints.** The cluster cuts out and comes back after a bump in the road or once the cabin warms up. That points to cracked joints, and a careful reflow of the suspect areas usually makes it stable again.
- **Failed illumination of warning icons and needles.** Part of the icon field goes dark, or one needle loses its light while the others glow. On blue dials like these, owners notice it straight away.
- **“------” instead of mileage on the TFT.** Dashes in the odometer field usually mean the 95080 has failed and the MCU can’t read valid data from it any more. The fix is to replace the 95080 with a new chip programmed with a valid dump. Once the memory is restored, you set the correct mileage with FORZA 614.
- **Clusters damaged during DIY dial face swaps.** This one is common on imported cars, so it gets its own section below.

#### Imported GranTurismos: dial faces and miles to km

Many GranTurismos, MC Stradale included, come to Europe from the US and Japan. They usually bring two jobs with them: a **dial face swap** from MPH to km/h faces, and an **odometer unit change**.

A dial face swap only looks simple. You have to pull the needles off the PM20T-036 steppers without bending a shaft or marking the dial. When an owner tries it without experience, the result is often broken needles, a damaged stepper or a scratched face. The cluster then reaches a specialist anyway, with more work to do than before.

To switch the odometer between miles and kilometres, **you need to edit the 95080 contents**, because the unit setting is stored in the EEPROM. The cluster on our bench is a good example: it has an MPH speedometer face while the TFT reads km.

### Bench power-up: two +12 V lines and GND

This cluster is easy to bring up on the bench. **It starts with just two +12 V lines and GND**, without any special CAN-bus frames, so you don’t need a separate CAN generator.

If you also connect **CAN-H and CAN-L**, you can test communication on the bench right away, before the cluster goes back to the car.

### FORZA 614 software programming options for Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale speedometer

FORZA 614 connects **via OBD2 in the car** or **on the bench through the cluster connector**. Diagnostically, it reads and writes the mileage value. That covers the most common jobs: correcting mileage after a 95080 replacement or after fitting a donor cluster.

> ℹ️ **95080 read/write limitation:** On the Maserati GranTurismo, only the mileage can be read and written diagnostically, via OBD2 or the dash connector. A full 1:1 read or write of the 95080 is not available diagnostically. For a complete backup, a 1:1 clone onto a donor cluster, or a miles-to-km conversion, you need a serial EEPROM programmer connected directly to the 95080 chip.

A good habit on every GranTurismo cluster: dump the 95080 with a serial programmer before you start, especially if the job involves pulling needles for a dial face swap.

### Maserati GranTurismo Instrument Cluster Pinout

The **Maserati GranTurismo Dashboard Pinout** is in the FORZA 614 app.
It shows the lines you need on the bench: both +12 V feeds, GND, CAN-H and CAN-L. With it, you can wire the cluster up quickly instead of probing pins one by one.

### Why a GranTurismo cluster is worth having on your bench

A new cluster for a GranTurismo, and especially for an MC Stradale with its carbon shroud, costs a lot at the dealer. Every fault described above can be repaired at board level. For a workshop, that means a high-value job with a predictable process. It also works well as mail-in work: the cluster runs on +12 V and GND alone, so you can test the finished repair without the car.

## **FAQ**

#### ****Do I need a CAN-bus generator to power up the Maserati GranTurismo cluster on the bench?**

No. The Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale instrument cluster starts with two +12 V lines and GND. Connect CAN-H and CAN-L only if you want to test communication.

#### ****Can I read the full 95080 via OBD2?**

No. Only the mileage can be read and written diagnostically. A full 95080 dump requires a serial EEPROM programmer connected to the chip.

#### ****How do I change the Maserati GranTurismo cluster from miles to km?**

The distance unit is stored in the 95080 EEPROM. You change it by editing the EEPROM contents and writing them back with a serial EEPROM programmer.

#### ****Why does the odometer show “------” instead of mileage?**

In most cases the 95080 has failed. Fit a new chip programmed with a valid dump, then set the mileage with FORZA 614.

#### ****Are there extra fees for programming the GranTurismo in FORZA 614?**

No. It’s included in the flat-rate subscription, with no tokens or per-model fees.
