## Fiat Grande Panda 2025+ Dashboard with RH850 MCU - options available in FORZA 614

Hey everyone!
Today on the workbench we have one of the newest clusters added to FORZA 614: the **Fiat Grande Panda 2025+ instrument cluster**, built by Desay SV around the Renesas **R7F701408** BGA processor. This unit came from a French-market car. The moment it woke up on the bench, it greeted us with *"Veillez à rester dans la voie"*, the lane-keeping warning, right in the middle of the screen.

It's a brand-new cluster, but it's already giving workshops headaches. Below you'll find what's inside it, the failure we're already hearing about from the field, what FORZA 614 can do with this dash today, and where you need to be careful. On this platform the odometer doesn't live in the cluster alone.

### What's inside the Grande Panda cluster

There are no needles and no stepper motors here. It's one wide 10.25" TFT in a slim black frame. Fuel level and coolant temperature are drawn as two vertical capsule-shaped bars on either side of the screen, and two small physical tell-tale windows sit outside the glass. Behind the display is a single long, narrow PCB (board number **57300002384A\_AF**). The architecture is built around one graphics-capable Renesas MCU supported by external DDR2 memory. **There is no external EEPROM on this board**: the odometer and configuration data live inside the processor itself.

The Mopar label on the back reads **98 714423 80 00**, *DESAY TFT 10.25 SCW2 CEM00*, HW 009, SW F309, manufactured by Huizhou Desay SV Automotive and dated 2025-07-07.

- **Main microcontroller**: R7F701408EABG-C (date code 2403, Japan) - a Renesas RH850/D1M series processor in a 376-ball BGA package. It runs a 240 MHz 32-bit core with 3.75 MB code flash and 64 KB data flash, and it handles CAN communication, graphics rendering and all cluster logic, including mileage storage.
- **DDR2 SDRAM**: ISSI IS46DR16320E-25DBLA1 - automotive-grade 512 Mbit DDR2 memory sitting right next to the MCU, working as the frame buffer and working memory for the TFT graphics.
- **Serial memory**: a 16-pin SOIC chip marked RW218 / 5DA17, placed beside the processor.
- **Buzzer**: BeeStar 20.25 - produces the chimes and warning sounds.

Because the processor is a BGA part, any job that needs direct access to it means soldering to test points on PCB.

### COG-DESAT035-01 10.25" TFT Display

The screen in the Grande Panda cluster is a 10.25" colour TFT marked
**COG-DESAT035-01** (label 57500000744B). It connects to the main board with a ribbon cable through a ZIF-type connector, so the panel separates from the PCB during teardown. So far the display isn't what's failing on this model. The trouble starts in software, as described below.

### Known issue: Grande Panda clusters dying after a software update

This is what makes the model worth writing about this early. We've had reports from the field that **the cluster can be damaged during a dealer software update**. If a faulty or interrupted software version lands in the unit, the cluster dies, and in most cases it **cannot be recovered using service methods**. The dealer tool simply has nothing left to talk to.

A software patch for dealer tools is probably already out or coming soon, and we're keeping our fingers crossed that it stops this from happening. Until then, expect some Grande Panda dashboards to arrive at your workshop after a service visit rather than after a crash or a water leak.

### Full Grande Panda instrument cluster wake-up on the bench

To run this cluster on the bench you need **power, CAN-H and CAN-L**. Wiring alone won't bring up the backlight or display, though. The cluster also needs the right CAN frames, and FORZA 614 sends them for you. Click **READ VALUE** and the dash wakes up fully, with the complete graphics on screen. No separate CAN generator required.

That one click also serves as a diagnostic step. If the cluster wakes up and returns a value, CAN communication between the unit and your bench is confirmed before you change any data.

### FORZA 614 software programming options for Fiat Grande Panda dashboard

- **Mileage programming upward.** You can set the odometer to a higher value. This is the practical option when you fit a new cluster and need to adapt it to the vehicle's real mileage.

> ℹ️ **No diagnostic data backup on this model.** There's no external EEPROM in the Grande Panda cluster, and full reading or writing of the cluster's data is not supported diagnostically. You can't take a 1:1 backup of the original unit or clone one cluster onto another. What FORZA 614 offers here is upward mileage programming on the bench. Anyway - the MCU is not locked so you can read/write data with direct programmer.

#### The Grande Panda stores mileage in the BCM too

This is a new platform, and **the odometer value is also stored in the BCM** (Body Control Module), not only in the instrument cluster. Take extra care with this job and don't experiment. Changing values back and forth between the cluster and the car is the fastest way to end up with mileage records that no longer agree. Set the correct value once, deliberately, and move on.

#### Adapting a used cluster with higher mileage than the original

A common scenario is a donor cluster with **more** kilometres than the car it's going into. Upward programming won't help in that case, so the procedure is:

1. Solder to the **R7F701408** processor and reset it.
2. Then either install the cluster in the car, or set the correct mileage with FORZA 614 on the bench.

### Fiat Grande Panda dashboard pinout

The **Fiat Grande Panda instrument cluster pinout** is available in the FORZA 614 app, showing exactly where power, CAN-H and CAN-L go to get the dashboard running on the bench. One practical warning: **the pins in this connector are very small and delicate**. Use proper terminals or fine probes, don't force anything into the plug, and take your time. A bent or pushed-back pin on a cluster this new is an annoying way to turn a quick bench job into a connector repair.

### Grande Panda cluster jobs: a new revenue stream before the market catches up

The Grande Panda has only just hit the roads, and most workshops haven't seen its cluster on their bench yet. Add a failure mode triggered by software updates, which won't disappear quickly under warranty, and you get a steady stream of units that dealers would rather replace than repair. A workshop that can wake this dash on the bench, confirm CAN communication in one click and correctly adapt mileage on a replacement cluster is offering something the dealer doesn't, at a fraction of the cost of a new part. It works for mail-in repairs too, because the whole bench workflow runs on one tool.

### One subscription, every update included

FORZA 614 runs on a single flat monthly subscription: no per-model licences and no token fees. The subscription funds continuous development, which is why new platforms like the Grande Panda show up in the software while the cars are still new. Refresh your activation and keep working.

## **FAQ**

#### ****Which processor is in the Fiat Grande Panda 2025+ instrument cluster?**

The Desay SV-built Grande Panda cluster uses the Renesas R7F701408, an RH850/D1M series microcontroller in a 376-ball BGA package, paired with ISSI IS46DR16320E DDR2 memory.

#### ****Does the Grande Panda cluster have an EEPROM?**

No. There is no external EEPROM on the board. Mileage and configuration data are stored inside the R7F701408 processor.

#### ****What do I need to power up the Grande Panda cluster on the bench?**

Power, CAN-H and CAN-L, plus the CAN frames that FORZA 614 sends when you click READ VALUE. No separate CAN generator is needed.

#### ****Can I back up or clone the Grande Panda cluster data diagnostically?**

No. Full diagnostic read and write of the cluster data isn't supported on this model. FORZA 614 supports upward mileage programming.

#### ****Can FORZA 614 lower the mileage on a Grande Panda cluster?**

Programming only goes upward. To fit a used cluster with higher mileage, solder to the R7F701408, reset it, and then set the correct value in the car or on the bench with FORZA 614.
